The next day, we find Amy dropping off Sonic at Vanilla and Cream's home were the two can watch over Sonic while Amy is away.

Vanilla: *smiles* Nice to see you again Sonic.
Sonic: Bah bah. *tries to reach out to Vanilla*
Amy: Thanks again for looking after him while I'm gone. *hands Sonic to Vanilla*
Vanilla: Not to worry.*cradles Sonic in her arms*

Amy: I'm going to investigate this abandoned laboratory that belongs to Eggman. If I'm lucky, I can find something that will change Sonic back to normal.

While this conversation is going on, the group does not realize that they are being spied upon.

Snively: Hmmm... This is a most interesting turn of events indeed. You there *points to one of the D.E.L. minions* hand me the comm. radio. *calls Dr. Eggman* Dr. Eggman, it's Snively.
Dr. Eggman: You better have a good reason for calling. *anger grows in tone*
Snively: I do, it appears that the hedgehog was affected by the secret experiment that you were conducting with one of the sol emeralds.
Dr. Eggman: Oh!? Go on.
Snively: As of now, the hedgehog is nothing more than a helpless infant.
Dr. Eggman: *laughs diabolically* This is wonderful news, but how do you know all this?
Snively: I'm not to far from the hedgehog and the ones looking after him.
Dr. Eggman: Who is with Sonic at the moment?
Snively: So far there's that meddlesome Amy, the orange rabbit, her mother, and that annoying Chao. Fortunately, I overheard that Amy is going to the same lab where the emerald lies.
Dr. Eggman: HOW IS THA...*realizes an evil opportunity at hand* Oh, now I see where you're getting at. We'll let Amy do all the hard work for us and snatch the emerald into my possession once again.
Snively: What about Sonic sir? Should we move in now?
Dr. Eggman: No. Wait for Amy to leave and await for my arrival with reinforcements in hand. *laughs some more* I can't wait to finally catch that hedgehog.
Snively: Neither can I sir.
