After some time, Sally carries Sonic in her arms with Knuckles walking alongside as the three approach the Master Emerald at Shrine Isle. At the shrine, they meet up with Espio, Charmy, and Saffron.

Knuckles: Where's everyone else?
Espio: They're doing some scouting.
Knuckles: Why? We just did some scouting already.
Espio: Apparently, they found a strange signal in the forest. As far as I know, they are investigating the source right now.
Sally: Knuckles?
Knuckles: Yeah?
Sally: If it's okay with you, I would like to start taking Sonic to the emerald.
Knuckles: Alright then, we'll be here if you need anything.
Sally: Thank you.
Sonic: *giggles and looks at Knuckles*
Sally: I think he thanking you too Knuckles.
Knuckles: Heh, no problem little guy.
Charmy: Aw, Saffron and I wanted to play with him some more.
Saffron: It was fun while it lasted.

Sally soon started her ascension to the Master emerald. As she made her way up the stairs with Sonic in her arms, she sensed something being amiss. It was as if someone was watching them from nearby. She dismissed this notion and looked at the cute little hedgehog in her arms that looked back at her with excitement.

Sally: *in front of the Master Emerald with Sonic still in her arms* Let's hope this works. *slowly moves Sonic towards the emerald and notices a small aura of energy*
Sonic: Beh. *reaches out to the emerald*

Suddenly, a pair of robotic hands extend out of nowhere and immediately grab Sonic from Sally's hands while knocking her down in the process. Everyone at the base of the altar barely notice this turn of events and try to free Sonic from the unknown enemy's grasp.

Sally: SONIC!!! *quickly gets up and reaches out to Sonic who is being pulled back into the air*
Sonic: BAAHH!!!! BAAHH!!! *starts to cry*
Knuckles: NO!!!! *glides toward Sonic*
Espio: Not good! *rushes to the aid*
Charmy & Saffron: SONIC! *fly to rescue the little hedgehog*

Just then, a flash of light temporarily blinds everyone. Seconds after the blinding flash, the ones responsible for Sonic's abduction reveal themselves. Before Sally and the Chaotix is none other than Dr. Eggman. Along with him is Snively and Lien-Da, who has the little hedgehog in her arms.

Sally: EGGMAN!!! *says with anger*
Dr. Eggman: Good afternoon everyone! *says in a victorious tone* Not worry, we'll take good care of Sonic from now on! AHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Knuckles: WE WON'T LET YOU EGGMAN!!!
Dr. Eggman: Oh really? How exactly do you plan to stop me?
Espio: We'll take you and your lackeys down right here and now!
Charmy: That's right!
Saffron: Hand back Sonic or else!
Lien-Da: How precious, everyone's getting worked up over this little brat. *looks to Sonic who is crying loudly*
Sonic: WAAAAHHHH!!!!
Sally: GIVE HIM BACK!!!
Dr. Eggman: No can do princess, I've planned something special for the hedgehog. Now if you'll excuse, there some "necessary preparations" that need to be made for our "newest recruit". Now Snively!
Snivley: Of course sir. *pushes a button on his eggpod controls*

At that moment, an explosion from the forest was heard and part of the forest began to catch on fire.

Espio: Oh no! That's where the others went to.

During this turn of events, a mysterious camera appeared from far behind Eggman without being detected. It looks upon an energy signature emitting from Sonic while being unnoticed. The camera shoots a small tracking device onto Eggman's pod and disappears from the scene.

As the Chaotix were distracted by the explosion, Sally remained undisturbed by it and still looked at Eggman and his accomplices. However, Eggman had one more trick up his sleeve.

Dr. Eggman: Farewell princess! *activates a flare that aided his escape with Lien-Da, Snively, and the recaptured little hedgehog*
Sally: GAH! *temporarily blinded by the flare along with the Chaotix*

The flare eventually died out and everyone saw that Eggman was gone, but so was Sonic.

Knuckles: Eggman's gonna pay for this! *notices Sally still standing on top of the altar* Sally?
Sally: No.... No.... NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
